Soccerthon: FAQ's

2010 Soccerthon

On Friday, April 23rd at 5pm at the Dome in Topsham, ME, Seacoast United Maine will begin its 1st ever 24-hour Soccerthon.  SUSC players from Junior Academy to U18, as well as alumni, parents and adults who play in our recreation leagues, will play for a combined total of 24 hours, concluding at 5pm on Saturday, April 24th.

The goal for this year’s program is to help begin the development of an indoor and outdoor facility in the Freeport, ME area.  The Club hopes to have a Purchase & Sale agreement by the end of April.  In addition, Seacoast United and Seacoast United Maine have pledged $5000 to help support (NIKE)RED and the fight against AIDS in Africa, particularly saving children’s lives.  Our goal is to raise $50,000.

Format
The games will be 6-a-side and  played at the Club’s Indoor Arena in Topsham.  Each player will be assigned to a 10 person roster and will play in three 30-minute games over the course of a 3 hour period.

Over the course of 24 hours, there will be a total of at least 48 games played (we may have multiple games at the beginning and end with our younger players).  Players will either represent the USA or England in honor of the World Cup game to be played on June 12th and the fact that the SUSC Staff is a mixture of American and English.  A continuous score will be kept.

Fundraising & Pledge Sheet
Each player in the Club and any friends of the Club who wish to participate will be asked to seek pledges or donations per their participation in the event.  All pledges will be based on 24 hours, hence if someone pledges $1 an hour, they would ultimately donate $24, or they can make a straight donation of any amount.  All players will receive a pledge sheet or they can print one off from the Club’s website.

Award Levels
All players will receive a pair of (NIKE)RED laces to help fight AIDS in Africa.  Please visit NIKEFOOTBALL.COM/RED for more details.

Paul Willis 24-Hour Goal
In addition to playing during the 2am-5am time slot, Paul is going to referee all 24-hours from 5pm on Friday through 5pm on Saturday.  Paul is reaching out to local and national companies in terms of sponsorship.  People will be able to pledge their support through the Club’s website.
