Prior to Farmington, Parsons spent a season as the assistant men's soccer coach at the University of Maine and two seasons as an assistant men's soccer coach at Bowdoin College. At Bowdoin, Parsons helped guide the Polar Bears to an overall record of 21-7-2 and an NSCAA top 20 national ranking in each year.
Parsons also served as the head men's soccer coach at St. Joseph's College from 2003-04 where he led the Monks to the 2004 NCAA Division III Independent Northeast Regional Tournament. Parsons began his coaching career at NAIA Division II Notre Dame College (N.H.), posting a 48-11-1 mark from 1999-2001. The team won the Mayflower Conference Championship in 2000 and advanced to the Northeast Region Championship in 2000 and the Final Four in 2001. The team received NSCAA top 20 national rankings in 2000 and 2001. He was named the Mayflower Conference Coach of the Year in 2000.
As a player, Parsons made two NJCAA National Final Four appearances with Ulster County Community College (N.Y.) before playing at Thomas College. Thomas won the Maine Athletic Conference title in 1995 and Parsons was the team capatain and an NSCAA All-American in 1996. He was a two-time All-New England, All-State and All-MAC selection.
Parsons received a bachelor of science in sports management from Thomas College and holds the United States Soccer Federation National 'B' license.
Parsons resides in Farmington with his wife, Karin, and children, Taylor (15), Drew (11) and Emma-Jane (3).
