Serdjenian, who graduated from Colby in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in English, was co-captain of the team as a senior and was named All-Maine as a goalkeeper in each of his three varsity seasons. In 1990 he was named Maine and New England Coach of the Year after the Mules completed the regular season undefeated and ranked number one in the region. He also was named 1993 Maine Coach of the Year.
After 11 years in elementary education, Serdjenian returned to Colby in 1984 to work as associate dean of students for academics, a post he held for 23 years before joining the Department of Athletics on a full-time basis for the 2007-08 academic year.
Serdjenian is a United States Soccer Federation licensed coach and holds the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Diploma. Serdjenian also directs popular co-ed summer soccer camps at Colby and is an associate staff coach for the NSCAA.
