Twombly Named Maine Coach of the Year

Steve Twombly was recently awarded one of SoccerMaine's top awards as "Coach of the Year" for 2009.  He was nominated and awarded in a response to recommendations from parents and players across the state.  The award was given at the Annual General Meeting held in Portland two weeks ago.  "It is well deserved for someone who is so committed to helping his players," according to Jim Wade, SUSC Maine's Director of Coaching.

Steve is one of the key coaches on the Seacoast United Maine Jr. Academy Staff, and is also Head Coach for a U11 Boys' team that has earned recognition from many tournament appearances in New England.  Steve also has coached for the Saco Soccer Club before coming to Seacoast United Maine, formerly Coastal Soccer Club.  Steve holds his USSF National "D" License.

The award is typically given to a coach that emulates development, fun, and good sportsmanship to all his players.  Paul Willis, the Club's Executive Director, commented:  "Steve deserves the award for his enthusiasm in developing players and I know his dedicated efforts are appreciated by all of his players and respected by his fellow coaches."  Congratulations to Coach Twombly!
